Comments: Religion should be open to all who question it and accept all questions.  Religion should be inclusive.  Religion's mind should be open.  After all, religion should help us in our pursuit of the purest form of love - God.

Comments: Leah - Enjoyed the site - quite refreshing and grounding and a welcomed break from online shopping. Seriously - great job - Joseph Campbell is a wise man as it sounds is your instructor.
The rosary is a " Marian" prayer and study of the apparitions of Mary are quite interesting. I attended a service many years ago where Mary made her presence know to many attendees. Ask me about the experience sometime. Ron

Comments: I never realized that prayer beads have such a connection between so many religions.  It seems that they are just one of the many similarities between world religions.  I've long thought that if everyone would stop trying to impose their beliefs on each other, and instead realize our common grounds, then the world would be a much better place.  What is the significance of conversion if it is forced upon someone, anyways?  It seems like a huge paradox in every religion's beliefs, and one that you pointed out well in this website.  Great information.

Comments: Very interesting Leah, I never knew that any other religions besides Catholicism had prayer beads....it's always cool to find the connections between things and see that maybe everyone is not so different after all.  Keep up the good work.

Leah, Great website! I attended a mind, body, spirit lecture on the Plaza a few years ago and the speaker talked about praying the rosary. Not only is it prayer, but it produced the same effect on pulse and BP as meditation, a kind of "chant", repeating the same words over and over. I can remember saying the rosary while we drove to Topeka to go shopping when I was a kid- that was before DVD players and I-pods!

I would like to point out that the Dominicans do not keep a record of that night of St. Dominic's penance in which he was given the rosary, and as such, it is under dispute. I won't say such an event didn't happen to somebody, but it is unlikely to have happened to St. Dominic.

I'm pretty sure that some continue the 150 psalm prayer.
